We have become aware of an alternative community-driven Linux driver developed for the Mediatek MT7612U chipset. We tested it recently with our AWUS036ACM and it works quite well. Credit and thanks.
Second post here..my first post was answered swiftly and sent me in the right direction, lets see if I can go 2 for 2
Okay so I purchased a AWUS036H Alfa Wireless card with hopes to snag my buddies internet that lives a few apartments over until I obtain my own internet, which will be next week now. Was successful, had the range. The speeds are a fraction of what would be wired, EVEN when I bring my rig to his house and set up shop there..its odd. But thats not really my issue. My issue is the linux functionality of it, even at slow speeds. My Alfa card tends to 'freeze' (the LED goes solid green) and i lose connection and it requires me unplugging and replugging the card into my comp for it to work again. This is very tedious and annoying while trying to update linux or even use something like Deluge or EVEN trying to post on this forum, had to replug it once.

I followed those directions and got through the first steps and the first two commands..which ill post here.

EDIT: i have tried doing this both while the card was plugged in and while it wasnt..same results
ALSO: works fine on windows so far..downloaded the Diablo III game installer and it didnt crash once..nor did it through all the windows updates..pretty sure its just a linux issue.I got my Mint 19.3 box setup and I've run into a common problem. I would like to use my Alfa AWUS036NH usb wifi adapter (product page). Alfa has 2 linux drivers available. I'm unsure which one to pick from their download page: https://files.alfa.com.tw/?dir=%5B1%5D% .. 36NH/Linux. After installation, I updated everything. Still unsure how to install a proprietary driver. Can anyone point me towards a source of info to help me out? Should I wait for another kernel release? Thanks to all. I like Linux more and more everyday.
