I had the license of Acronis Backup 11.5 for Server and Workstation also, created Acronis BootCD with same steps doing as Acronis True Image 2013. I thought that everything will be fine but same situation. Our main purpose is restoring the image to Vmware Workstation 11. Anyone can share the experience? Regards, Hoang.

1. To download the installation file for Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) log in to your account on the Acronis website.

The number of available licenses shows how many licenses (Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) Standard Licenses and Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) Upgrade License) can still be used to assign to the ESX(i) hosts. Used licenses are the licenses already assigned to their respective ESX(i) hosts. Total number of licenses are used and available licenses combined. The number of not upgraded licences indicate vmProtect 6/7/8 standard licenses for which there are no Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) upgrade licenses added.

(!) If you have Restore/Validate/Exchange Restore tasks, they will be removed, due to architectural changes, during the upgrade from the 6/7th version and should be recreated manually. The existing Backup tasks will be properly upgraded.

Solution

Run the installation file of Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9). Depending on the way the previous version of Acronis vmProtectis installed, select one of the following options:

1. Press Install Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) as Virtual Appliance on an ESX(i) host:
2. If you accept the license agreement, click I accept this agreement and Next;
3. Specify the desired ESX(i) server or vCenter access credentials: IP address or hostname, your user name and password:

   When you click Next, the installer will automatically check the connection and go through the authorization procedure.

4. Installer will detect the existing Acronis Virtual Appliances on the selected vCenter. Select Update the existing Acronis Virtual Appliance:

   If asked for password, enter the default one, which is root. See also .

5. Review the installation summary and press Update:

1. Run Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) installation file on the machine where a previous version of Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) is installed and press Install Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) as Windows Agent:
2. If you accept the license agreement, click I accept this agreement and Next;
3. Installer will automatically detect the existing Acronis Backup for VMware 9 (Acronis vmProtect 9) installation. Press Update:
4. Review the details and press Update to start the installation:

5. Restart the machine after installation to apply changes.
